Welcome to the SwissGrips website!

My name is Tomas and I have lived with diabetes since I was 3 years old. My parents and I had to learn how to manage a variety of challenges which this disease brings to one’s life at a very early stage of our journey.

At the age of 12, I switched from insulin injections to an insulin pump. Later, I used various continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGM), such as Dexcom and Freestyle Libre. Over the years, my insulin pump and CGM accompanied me to college, first dates, work interviews, business meetings, my first and only marathon, rafting trips, tropical vacations, and all kinds of social events. This technology became a part of my life for which I am very thankful for as it significantly improves overall diabetes management.

From time to time, my CGM sensor came loose and fell off or just got ripped out of my arm when I was getting dressed. This became very expensive as my insurance does not fully cover the sensor cost. I tried various kinds of protection – plasters, patches, plastic covers, etc. but, to be honest, I found these solutions not very practical, sometimes inconvenient or painful, and often ugly.

In 2019, I came up with the idea to create my own product to improve the lifespan of my CGM sensors and provide my with a five star comfort while wearing CGM. I put together a small team and immediately started working on the SwissGrips project.

SwissGrips is a unique adhesive solution designed and tested in Switzerland by type 1 diabetics. We spent a significant amount of time creating the design of this product as we want SwissGrips to guarantee that a CGM sensor is protected and sticks to a human body for a minimum of 10 days. However, our goal is not only that SwissGrips last long and provide the best value for money. We want them to look amazing, feel comfortable, be super easy to apply and remove, and cause no pain or skin irritation.

SwissGrips are almost here and I am happy to welcome you to our website! If you would like to be up to date on the latest developments around SwissGrips and when this product will become available to you, please follow us on instagram and join our lauch group on Facebook. This way you will be informed about the progress of the project and connected to like-minded diabetics, pumpers, and CGM users, as well as parents of the little ones.
